Inside $400M Boeing 747 private jet gifted to USA by Qatari royal family is a different kind of luxury

The royal rulers of Qatar gifted a Boeing 747 private jet to the United States government.

The jet is exactly the size of the 747 some people may have used to fly commercial from A to B in the past, but it’s been repurposed as a private jet.

Imagine that.

The price, predictably, is a lot higher than you think

In theory, both Boeing and Airbus give everyone the option to customize ‘regular’ aircraft and use them as business jets.

But, in practice, this is the sort of thing that’s usually reserved to royal families or governments, not private individuals.

Saudi Arabia, for example, converted a Boeing 747 and used it to chauffeur players around now that the Saudi League is making waves.

There are always exceptions, of course.

Drake, for example, owns a massive Boeing that’s been turned into a private jet, although his jet used to be a cargo jet, not a commercial plane.

But that’s beside the point, because the point is that Sheikh Tamim Al Thani, the emir of Qatar, offered this Boeing 747-8i to the United States administration as a gift.

Apparently, Al Thani didn’t actually buy the jet because he’d previously received, also a gift, from the Turkish government.

The Boeing 474-8i is a large wide-body airliner which, in its regular configuration, has enough room for 460+ passengers.

So you can imagine what it looks like if you get rid of all 460+ seats and replace them with actual rooms for a handful of guests.

This 13-year-old plane looks like a mansion for the skies, and it’s larger than some apartments.

And it does cost the same as a lavish mansion, or even more.

The value of this jet, in its current state, is around $400 million. The post Inside $400M Boeing 747 private jet gifted to USA by Qatari royal family is a different kind of luxury appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
