Jeff Bezos is reportedly set to get married on his $500 million superyacht

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez will reportedly get married aboard Koru, the billionaire’s largest superyacht (because he owns two).

The power couple made it clear they wanted to get married in Venice, but there’s been a lot of back and forth regarding the actual wedding venue.

Some said they’d get married on the yacht near Venice, others said they’d get married in an unspecified location in the Italian city.

And Venice might be the reason why they picked the yacht after all.

Why Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos want to get married on Koru

When Jeff Bezos announced his plan to get married in Venice, the mayor of the city said the wedding would only cause minimal disruption to residents and tourists.

But that sounded like wishful thinking more than anything else.

For starters, Bezos doesn’t go anywhere without his staff, and this staff is probably the size of a small army.

Billionaire CEOs, as everyone knows, spend a fortune on personal security, so his protective detail alone is probably the size of a soccer team.

Then there’s Koru, Bezos’ superyacht.

Koru is a 127-meter (417ft) superyacht with a beam of 17.2 meters, which means the ship is simply too big for Venice.

Abeona, Koru’s shadow yacht, is also too large for Venice, and the mayor of Venice already reportedly told Bezos he won’t be able to moor the yacht anywhere near the lagoon.

This is probably the reason why Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez elected to hold the ceremony on the yacht, because it’s probably a lot easier.

This happened before

Koru is currently in Croatia, after being denied a mooring in Monaco, during the Grand Prix.

Bezos was probably hoping to reach the port of Monaco with his largest superyacht Koru or at the very least his shadow boat, Abeona, but both were deemed too large for Monaco, and so, once again, he had to use smaller ships and tenders.

This is becoming a recurring problem for superyacht owners.
