Business tycoon Jeff Bezos is so rich that he pays a $1,000 fine every month after installing a fence that surrounds his $175m Beverly Hills estate.
As the fourth richest man on the planet, only marginally behind Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, and Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos has more than a few spare dollars.
But his wealth comes at the price of a lack of privacy.
And his privacy comes at the price of $1,000 a month.

Jeff Bezos gets a $1,000 fine every month for
Despite falling down the pecking order in the richest person lists, as Oracle’s Larry Ellison has been on a money-making surge, Jeff Bezos still generates otherworldly sums of money.
The business celebrity kicks back in his various properties around the US without ever having to care about keeping track of the coins.
Most notably, his plot on Billionaire’s bunker makes him neighbours with Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump, and Julio Iglesias.
However, it’s his Beverley Hills estate that causes him a very tiny headache.
Originally built for the Jack part of the Warner Bros. duo, Jeff Bezos bought the mansion for around $175m, and erected a huge fence for privacy.
The colossal shrubbery keeps out the pesky paps, but it’s actually illegal.
Los Angeles laws cap front fences at 3.5 yards in height, and Bezos’ Beverly Hills estate clears that by a considerable amount.
This means he is fined $1,000 every month for the fence.
A drop in the ocean
Valued at $244 billion, per Forbes, at the time of writing, Jeff Bezos reportedly generates around $300 every single second.
To put that menial fine into perspective for the billionaire, he could pay it off in four seconds of revenue, and still have a couple of hundred dollars spare.
Considering he owns one of the most expensive yachts in the world, worth $500m, it’s no wonder he doesn’t care.
He’s not the only billionaire to take these kinds of fines on the chin, though.
Bill Gates also received a $28 bill every single day for 13 years after buying a Porsche 959.
It’s hardly going to touch the sides for these moguls, though, who will likely spend more on olives for their cocktails on multi-million dollar yachts.
