Sega success sold on Sonic the Hedgehog
Video game fans of almost any age will know who Sonic the Hedgehog is.
Sega, the Tokyo-based videogame company, first launched the character in 1991.
Video game designers Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima both created the spinning character.
Hayao Nakayama, the then-President of Sega, loved the idea of the blue Hedgehog.
Nakayama also decided that Sega needed its own franchise to compete with Nintendo’s Mario character.
It proved to be the right decision, with the franchise becoming one of the biggest ever.
For over 30 years, the blue Hedgehog has done battle with the evil Dr Robotnik.
And those battles have seen the franchise gross over $16 billion in revenue.
Lamborghini celebrates Sonic and Knuckles with Revuelto
Over the past 30 years, one of the blue hedgehog’s best friends is Knuckles the Echidna.
First appearing together in 1994, the blue-and-red tandem have been together for a long time.
And, to the surprise of many, Lamborghini decided to celebrate the dynamic duo.
On Sunday, the Bologna brand decided to unveil a special, one-off Revuelto.
The Stadio Renato Dall’Ara is home to the Bologna football team.
Prior to the team’s game against Inter Milan, the stadium’s kids’ area was home to the unveiling.
The brand new Revuelto comes in an amazing red-and-blue livery.
It features Sonic on one half of the car, and Knuckles on the other.
In a very cool touch, the Revuelto has a 91 at the rear.
This is to mark the year that the game was unveiled to the world by Sega.
We have to say that, although unexpected, it’s an extremely cool move by Lamborghini. The post Lamborghini partners with Sega to give one of its supercars a Sonic and Knuckles transformation appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
