Could Lewis Hamilton quit Ferrari?
Lewis Hamilton has not exactly endured a dream start to his time at Ferrari.
It was announced that, in one of the biggest moves in Formula 1 history, Hamilton would be moving to the Italian team.
Unfortunately, the move has so far been a real struggle for the Englishman.
This season has seen Hamilton fail to land a single podium for the iconic F1 team.
And it now appears that the team could be ringing in massive changes.
According to Italian media, current team principal Fred Vasseur is under big pressure.
The reports, including those from leading newspaper Corriere della Sera, do not make for good reading.
It suggests that Vasseur is on extremely thin ice with Ferrari leadership, who are very unhappy.
Speculation suggests that the progress of McLaren might actually be the biggest reason for their displeasure.
Fred Vasseur’s failure to supply winning cars has left him vulnerable.
Further reports suggest that Loic Serra, the technical director who followed Hamilton from Mercedes, could be in trouble, too.
Serra is seen as having not met expectations since joining Ferrari, and could follow Vasseur in leaving.
And those departures could spark one of the most unbelievable moves in recent years.
Because it has been suggested that Christian Horner could replace Vasseur as team principal.
The recently sacked Horner could be installed to lead a complete rebuild of Ferrari.
How likely is a Christian Horner move to Ferrari?
To put it simply, a Christian Horner move to Ferrari is certainly within the realm of possibility.
However, it is also far from the most likely move that Ferrari could make.
Red Bull senior advisor Helmut Marko revealed something fascinating recently.
According to Marko, Christian Horner was very close to making the Maranello move in 2022.
Ferrari chairman John Elkann is reportedly a very big fan of Christian Horner.
The move only failed due to Helmut Marko personally intervening to stop it.
Now that Horner no longer has those Red Bull ties, could the move happen?
Well, there is one small issue with that – and that issue is Lewis Hamilton.
It has been suggested that a Christian Horner hire would almost certainly push Hamilton out the door.
After spending such a long time courting Hamilton, it would certainly be awkward to lose him after just one year.
Several figures have suggested that a move to the Alpine F1 Team would be much more realistic.
Christian Horner reportedly enjoys a very close relationship with Flavio Briatore.
Briatore currently operates as the temporary, de facto team principal of Alpine F1.
Securing the services of Christian Horner would represent a massive move for Alpine.
It would also likely see Hamilton remain with Ferrari in Formula 1.The post Lewis Hamilton tipped to quit Ferrari if Christian Horner joins appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
