Los Angeles could get a massive 555-foot flying warehouse airship

Los Angeles could get a huge, 555-foot flying warehouse airship from Aeros that’s longer than a Boeing 747.

Logistical companies around the world are always looking for better ways to move cargo around, and a new airship from the Aeros company could be a game-changer.

Designed by Igor Pasternak, the huge vessel could deliver humanitarian relief, items such as wind turbines, and even function as a floating warehouse over Los Angeles.

While the idea might sound far-fetched, Pasternak thinks it makes perfect sense, and the concept could be tested later in 2025.

What will the flying warehouse airship be called?

The concept has been called the Aeros Aeroscraft.

Were it to become a reality, the craft would measure around 555ft in length.

Which means the cargo hold is approximately twice the size of a Boeing 747-800.

This highlights just how much cargo the massive airship can carry.

Pasternak believes that cargo transportation needs a bit of a shakeup from the established norm.

Aircraft pollute the planet, and vehicles like semi-trucks can clog up our roads.

An airship, however, would not require complex airports and structures to operate from like a cargo aircraft, and of course, it could avoid any traffic jams.

Airships are, of course, nothing new, but it has been a while since one on this scale has been introduced.

The new vessel could carry a vast amount of cargo

If the new ML866, as it has been dubbed, does come to fruition, it could carry up to 8,800 square feet of cargo, or 66 metric tons.

That is around twice as much as the largest Boeing 747 cargo aircraft can carry.

Yet if that wasn’t crazy enough, Aeros also has plans for an even larger airship called the ML888.

The ML888 would be 770ft long and carry a payload of 244 metric tons, a vast increase over the ML866.

While it might sound crazy, airships of this size have existed in the past.

The Hindenburg-class were themselves over 800ft long, and could carry at least 240,000lbs of people and cargo.

Many of us might have thought that vast airships like this were a thing of the past.

But if Aeros and designer Igor Pasternak both get their way, then perhaps we will be proven wrong. The post Los Angeles could get a massive 555-foot flying warehouse airship appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
