Buying a write-off is always quite the risk.
While you’re paying ten cents on the dollar for a pretty neat ride, there’s a lot of work and expense that goes into getting it back on the road.
But if you do it, like in the case of this Chevrolet Corvette, you’re on track for a sublime car that has that blood, sweat, and tears sacrificial bond.

YouTuber revives blown-out totaled Chevrolet Corvette
The latest Chevy Corvette to bolt out of the stable is a thrilling 1028HP beast, putting the supercar series back on top.
But that six-figure animal is almost unattainable to 99 percent of the population.
Instead, those who want a Corvette usually start with old fixer-upper cars, bought for cheap and made great through elbow grease.
That’s the story behind Corey Funk‘s new totaled Chevrolet Corvette, which was once written off after throwing a rod through its engine.
But with a new supercharged twin-turbo powertrain and a ton of new upgrades, this Chevrolet Corvette is back, bigger and better than what it was before.
The Corvette rebuild was one of the best out there, and the YouTube star was ecstatic at the sound of his own creation.
But after documenting the series on his channel, he was approached by the original owner of the car, and they planned to meet up.
Previous Chevy owner was stunned by wild restoration
After making the trip to meet the former Chevy owner, Corey was met with a man whose expression can only be summed up as complete shock.
“Aw, God!” was all he could manage at first, before digging into its backstory.
The man said that he was going to do some like-minded upgrades to the car, but when its engine blew, he decided it was best to let it go.
Seeing it back in its prime form was quite the emotional rollercoaster, mixing pride, jealousy, and awe in a powerful cocktail.
However, the man did actually have a tip or two for the YouTuber, who didn’t realize that he already had Apple CarPlay built-in.
While it’s not quite the same as adding a supercharged engine, the creator was equally as thrilled by the tip, knowing he could make the trip home with the software blasting out his tunes.
