An electric vehicle expert has expressed their shock and adoration for the $16,000 Chinese XPeng Mona 03 EV, slating it one of the best vehicles he’s ever driven.

China’s electric car market has taken massive strides to become competitive around the globe.

BYD especially has begun the global charge, taking its vehicles around the world to compete among giants like Tesla.

But XPeng – one of the most notorious mass production EV makers in the world – has now wowed people over with its ‘affordable’ but brilliant Mona 03.

XPeng Mona 03 blows away EV guru

XPeng is quite the master crafter when it comes to EVs.

The Chinese company made the first flying car that the world has ever seen, and is working quickly to create fully self-driving cars like the new Tesla Robotaxi software.

It even has Karaoke-loving SUVs in its fleet of futuristic electric vehicles.

But the XPeng Mona 03 is one of its cheapest cars, not that you could tell from the outside.

YouTuber The Electric Viking is quite the guru when it comes to testing EVs, and his recent experience with the Mona 03 left him stunned.

At a comfortable price of $16,000 – three times as cheap as a new Model Y – the XPeng reportedly drives as well as any other car on the market.

“Now, being this affordable, starting at a starting price of $16,000, I thought that would mean it wouldn’t be that good, and there would be some major compromises,” he said in a recent upload.

“But I was wrong. I think I was very wrong.

“What shocked me the most was that this is actually one of the best-handling cars I’ve ever driven.”

So why is it so cheap?

Well, Chinese EVs are notorious for having some basic flaws, and the XPeng Mona 03 is no different.

Despite its high-quality drive, the car lacks interior luxury, as The Electric Viking claims that the plastic finishing is ‘scratchy’.

It’s also limited to 400V charging, which can restrict its on-the-go charging speeds, but only if you’re a long-distance driver or don’t have access to home kits.

Still, for $16k, it appears to be a steal.

Having already received mass orders of the airborne car, it’s clear to see that the Mona 03 will be flying off the shelves too – only figuratively. The post Man drove the $16,000 XPeng Mona 03 EV and was left shocked appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
