Man on mission to multiply his money tenfold purchases two Subarus to try and flip them for a profit
These cars seem like too much trouble, but there's more to the story The post Man on mission to multiply his money tenfold purchases two Subarus to try and flip them for a profit appeared first on Supercar Blondie.

Flipping two Subarus was supposed to be simple, but a blown engine, Subaru ECU issues, and rising costs have made the dream of multiplying his money tenfold feel out of reach.
YouTuber itsleelockwood picked up both cars for £4,000 ($5,330), planning quick repairs and profitable resales.
What started as a straightforward flip quickly turned into a technical headache.
From misidentified engines to wiring confusion, the project was anything but smooth.

Flipping two Subarus starts with optimism
In his video series, itsleelockwood set out with the clear goal of flipping two Subarus using hands-on work and smart budgeting.
The red Subaru had rust and a blown engine, while the blue one needed less urgent attention.
The process began with cutting out corrosion and cleaning the underbody.
But the real test came when it was time to fit the replacement engine.
The blown engine wasn’t the worst part
A replacement was sourced for the red car’s blown engine, which was initially thought to be a 2.0L EJ20.
But after fitting, it turned out to be a 2.5L EJ25, completely incompatible with the stock Subaru Engine Control Unit, or ECU.
Since the ECU was locked and couldn’t be remapped, the engine swap introduced major fuel and air delivery mismatches.
The unexpected find instantly pushed the project over budget and added complexity.
ECU and wiring confusion stalls progress in flipping two Subarus
After the engine went in, issues piled up.
Warning lights illuminated the dash, and sensor errors pointed to problems with the MAP sensor and throttle position sensor.
Some connectors didn’t seem to plug into anything.
The locked Subaru ECU only made things worse.
Troubleshooting involved testing grounds, checking voltages, and even pulling diagnostic codes through an old-school flash method under the dashboard.
The plan to multiply his money tenfold is on hold
Flipping two Subarus was supposed to be a profitable side project for the YouTuber.
But with the ECU problems unresolved and a blown engine now replaced by a mismatched block, the goal to increase his investment tenfold is slipping away.
Without a working solution for the ECU, the red Subaru’s performance is limited, and so is its resale value.
Every additional hour spent diagnosing adds to the mounting cost.
The red Subaru is running, but far from road-ready.
Flipping two Subarus turned out to be less about turning a profit and more about navigating unexpected mechanical challenges.
With Subaru ECU issues, idle problems, and open wiring questions still unresolved, this is now a test of perseverance.
As itsleelockwood continues the build, there’s still one more car to go, and maybe, one last shot at making the project a win.
