Tesla is the leading EV automaker

The EV company was established in 2003 and has been the leading electric vehicle manufacturer, paving the way in the automotive sphere.

It has a varied fleet of EVs, including the Model Y, the Roadster, and not forgetting the much-discussed Cybertruck.

But, as with anything electric, sometimes the cars can run into problems, as one Tesla owner found out the hard way.

This Tesla owner put his car in for a simple service and faced issues

Tesla owner Dmitry posted his battery saga for all to see, admitting: “[I] love my car, but what a hassle”.

He bought his 2021 Model 3 in December 2024 with less than 27,000 miles on the clock.

However, the battery had been causing him a bit of aggravation.

He stated: “The battery was replaced under warranty due to a BMS_a079 error. The process was quick—my Tesla was back by April 9, 2025, with a new-to-me (refurbished) HV battery pack, swapped in just 5 days.”

After that, he was faced with an unexpected issue – the battery wouldn’t charge on Level 1 or 2 chargers, with a Supercharger the only tool able to get the job done properly.

A Supercharger is powerful, with the device able to ‘add up to 172 miles of range in just 15 minutes,’ according to the company itself.

“Apparently, the replacement pack was an EU-configured battery, missing the wiring for AC charging, making it incompatible with my US Model 3,” Dmitry continued.

He concluded by saying that he was waiting for another battery pack for the Tesla, with the aim to get his car back within two weeks, so all hope was not lost.

“Tesla’s tech is awesome, but this has been a headache,” said Dmitry.

Other owners shared their thoughts on the situation

While he might have struggled with his charging, the post didn’t fail to spark discussion online.

“Seems unfortunate but don’t see the headache issue,” said one user.

“That’s just straight up incompetence by Tesla,” said another user.

“Sorry to hear that also, I don’t think I would be comfortable accepting a refurbished battery; as that might be the issue with it, not charging other than with a supercharger. I would demand a new battery,” stated someone else.
