McLaren employees reveal what their first car was and what they’re driving now

Ever wondered what kind of cars the people working at a McLaren dealership actually drive?

A new video uploaded by RDSAutoGroup gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at what McLaren employees actually drive to and from work.

The results might surprise you, because while they spend their days around million-dollar machines, their own cars are far more relatable.

From an old Datsun to a family-friendly Honda, the answers reveal just how varied their journeys on four wheels have been.

What do McLaren employees drive?

The first interviewee appears to be a lifelong Audi fan.

His very first car was a 2010 Audi A4, and today he’s still sticking with the brand by driving a 2014 Audi A5.

Next up was an employee with a flair for muscle cars.

He started out in a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, but now has moved up to a 2013 Porsche Boxster, showing an upgrade from classic American muscle to sleek European performance.

One staff member gave a less conventional answer.

When asked about his first set of wheels, he admitted it wasn’t a car at all; it was a green bicycle, which he proudly claimed to have ridden for more than a thousand miles.

As for what he drives now? That’s ‘debatable,’ as he’s still deciding, but a McLaren Artura is high up on his list.

Another employee took things back to the 1980s, recalling that his first ride was a 1980 Datsun B210.

These days, his garage includes two very practical choices: a 2022 Subaru Forester and a 2020 Jeep Wrangler.

Finally, one of the most talked-about answers came from the last employee.

His first car was a 1995 Lexus SC300, a model that’s become something of a cult classic among car enthusiasts.

Today, though, he’s behind the wheel of a 2004 Honda CR-V, a dependable family SUV that many wealthy people seem to like.

You don’t need to be rich to appreciate a McLaren

Viewers had plenty to say in the comments section, especially about the last employee.

Many praised his first car as ‘super cool,’ while others joked that he’s clearly a family man now with his current Honda.

Some even called him the smartest of the bunch for sticking with something considered so reliable.

The video also highlighted a broader point: despite working around McLarens all day, most of these employees drive cars that are practical, affordable, and down-to-earth.

It’s a reminder that you don’t need to own a $23 million McLaren to appreciate the brand or even work for it.
