The new Pope is the first American Bishop of Rome in the history of the Catholic Church.
His Holiness recently took his first ride in the new Popemobile.
And his trip included a truly heart-warming moment.

On May 8th, Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was announced as the new Pope.
Cardinal Prevost was confirmed as the successor to the late Pope Francis I, who sadly passed away recently.
The new head of the Catholic Church has created a media buzz unlike any other around the Vatican.

After being ordained as a priest in 1982, Cardinal Prevost’s mission was focused in Peru during the 1980s and 1990s.
Pope Francis made Prevost a Cardinal in 2023, appointing him as prefect of the Dicastery of Bishops.
Francis also appointed him as president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.
On Easter Monday, April 21st, Pope Francis sadly passed away following prolonged health issues.
Following two days of papal conclave, Prevost was elected as Francis’ successor.
After taking the papal name of Leo XIV, the new Pope has been received extremely positively.
Leo has been received positively by leaders all across the world.
Last Sunday, Pope Leo XIV was celebrated in his inaugural mass at St. Peter’s Square.
The new Pope has already indicated his intention to break with convention and tradition.
During his first ride in the Popemobile, His Holiness broke with a very strong tradition.
He opted to greet the roughly 200,000-strong crowd without any bulletproof glass in his Popemobile.
The new Pope also displayed a truly heart-warming gesture in front of the adoring crowd.
On his way through the crowd, two babies were held up to the new Pope.
After being passed to the Pope by his security team, he offered the babies his personal blessing.
After passing the babies back to the families, the parents cheered and thanked His Holiness.
