Shaquille O’Neal, AKA Shaq, once said that he would never buy a private jet, but then he went and bought one anyway – with wild maintenance costs attached to it.
The star is no stranger to an expensive buy, with his purchases usually consisting of flashy supercars.
However, this lavish purchase may just top his list of expensive investments.
And, just wait until you see the maintenance costs, they’re sure to make your eyes water.

Shaq is known for his love of lavish purchases.
For example, he recently sold off 10 of his custom cars after forgetting that he owned them. But he’ll never sell this particular car – his favorite in the entire collection.
Plus, he even spent $600,000 on two Rolls-Royces just because of Mike Tyson.
But, he doesn’t stick to just cars, he sometimes dips his toes into the aviation industry too.
After he said that he would never buy himself a private jet, it appears he ate his own words and decided to splash his cash on a flying machine.
The airplane in question is a Bombardier Challenger 650, and it carries quite the hefty price tag… of over $20 million.
“The Challenger 650 features the widest cabin in its class. With available seating for up to 12 passengers, extra room means greater comfort, especially on long-haul flights,” stated the manufacturer itself.
Shaq, of course, had to customize it to his taste too, with the sports star reportedly having his logo ‘Dunkman’ added to the jet.
As you’d imagine, the costs of maintenance are very high.
It seems that using the jet 200 hours a year would likely cost the star around $1,351,204.
That huge cost also includes the price of fuel to power the jet’s engines, coming in at $517,668, plus maintenance of $72,066.
The costs wouldn’t faze Shaq much, though, as he’s used to footing large bills thanks to his huge fleet of supercars.
The decision to buy the private jet seems to be a far cry from what he previously stated that a private plane simply consisted of too much work when it came to maintenance.
His jet sure is impressive, though, with a top speed of Mach 0.85 and a maximum operating altitude of 41,000 feet.
The question beckons, though, just what will Shaq buy next? The post Shaq said he’d never buy a private jet, but then he went and bought one with wild maintenance costs appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
