The next AMG is electric and might outgun every supercar on sale

Mercedes-AMG is turning up the heat ahead of summer by teasing its upcoming all-electric performance sedan.

The silhouette of the new sedan was previewed in an image posted to Mercedes-AMG’s social media accounts.

“Just a glimpse — for now. Something big is coming. June 2025,” the brand teased.

While the teaser did not give away much of the car’s design, eagle-eyed observers can still pick up on a few details.

Electric successor to the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe

The Instagram post teaser shows the darkened silhouette of a curvaceous sedan, with a flowing roofline and sharply angled rear windshield.

One commenter also suggested the car looked ‘too long for two doors’.

This is believed to be the electric successor to the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, which is currently already on sale in many markets.

A full reveal of the new four-door performance EV is expected in June.

Built for rugged conditions

In March 2024, Mercedes-AMG revealed its first dedicated electric vehicle architecture (AMG.EA) was undergoing its initial winter testing in northern Sweden.

The company said the AMG.EA would be subjected to an intensive testing program, putting individual components through their paces.

The test plan will also span multiple continents and climate zones.

Images show a heavy camouflaged car driving on a frozen lake, sharing similar features to the image in the teaser.

These tests were conducted close to the Arctic Circle, at temperatures as low as -25 degrees Celsius.

According to Mercedes-AMG, the EV will incorporate axial-flux motor technology, which offers an ‘unparalleled mix of power, density, size and weight’.
