Japanese giant Toyota has just revealed its latest model to arrive in 2025, the Bz5, and the Tesla Model Y rival is really landing punches at just half the price.
The Tesla Model Y has been unanimously the king of EVs for the last few years.
But a number of competitors are now testing their success in different markets before targeting America.
And it looks like this Toyota is going to give the Tesla range a run for its money.

It doesn’t seem like a good week to be a Tesla Model Y, as serious competitors to the EV SUV have been announced left and right.
Earlier this week, Chinese tech giants turned best-selling EV manufacturers, Xiaomi, announced its Model Y rival.
Now, Toyota has done the same.
Hot off the back of its success in America with its Bz4, and throughout Europe with the upcoming C-HR+ and Urban Cruiser, Toyota is now stepping into the Chinese market.
Today, the esteemed brand has announced the impressive Bz5, and it costs just ¥130,000 ($18,000).
The signature hammerhead look that Toyota has been sporting of late is instantly recognisable in the Bz5.
But its Chinese influence has been noted with the BYD Blade LFP batteries (coming in two options) that boast 342 and 392 miles of range, respectively.
Charging times are estimated to go from 30 percent to 80 percent in just one Friends episode, too (roughly 27 minutes).
The timing of the announcement might be rather shrewd too, given that Xiaomi’s Model Y rival is set to be unveiled in full just a matter of hours after the Bz5 pictures aired.
Considering both EVs will be launched in China, it’s a marketing punch from the Japanese brand.
Although the Bz5 will be launched in China, it doesn’t mean that these cars won’t land on shores around the world, and even in America.
It’s also a serious blueprint for Toyota to see how it performs in the very competitive Chinese market, before trying to unhorse the Model Y elsewhere.
For just half the price, it could be the stroke of genius needed to finally make a dent in Tesla. The post Toyota has revealed its rival to the Tesla Model Y and it’s half the price appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
