Hackers recently compromised xrpl.js libraries but were quickly picked out. XRP price is steady and may break $2.5. Will XRPUSDT reach $10?
Top networks like Bitcoin, Solana, and Ethereum have been hack-proof since launch. While there may be occasional reliability concerns, their source code, libraries, or repositories are rarely compromised. However, this precisely happened with the XRP Ledger (XRPL). It powers XRP, one of the best cryptos to buy in 2025.
On April 21, malicious actors successfully compromised a popular JavaScript library, xrpl.js. This code package allows developers to interact seamlessly with the mainnet.
If not had been contained in time, the breach could have triggered a supply chain attack, as more developers downloaded and activated the compromised package. In turn, this could have put thousands of developers and millions of XRP at risk of losing their private keys.

So, What Happened?
According to Aikido, a blockchain and cybersecurity firm, attackers injected malicious code into five versions of the library: 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 4.2.3, 4.2.4, and 2.14.2.
Developers pulling packages for local use often scrutinize these libraries less.
Analysts first detected the hack in the 4.2.4 library, labeled “latest.”
These compromised libraries were published to the Node Package Manager (NPM), a registry that allowed developers to download them.
Aikido researchers noted that the malicious code included a new function that secretly harvested users’ seed phrases and transmitted them to an external server.

Further analysis revealed that hackers attempted to conceal the backdoor by releasing a slightly altered version to evade detection from automated auditing systems and manual auditors.
Who Attempted to Hack the XRP Ledger?
The source of the malicious code was traced to an account linked to a Ripple Labs employee.
However, attackers likely hijacked the account “mukulljangid” and stole its access token.
They updated the xrpl.js library with the access token, passing it off as a legitimate update from a Ripple Labs employee.
This sophisticated tactic is commonly used by hackers aiming to cause serious damage through supply chain attacks.
The good news is that only the xrpl.js library was compromised, and the issue has been resolved with the release of versions 4.2.5 and 2.14.3, which eliminated the backdoor.
The official XRP Ledger GitHub repository remains secure.
Ripple Labs and NPM security teams are also coordinating to assess the full impact and notify affected users.
XRP Price Steady, But Will It 4X?
Despite the attempted hack of the xrpl.js library, the XRP price remains stable.
However, the coin is one of the underperforming assets in the top 10, according to Coingecko. It is currently trailing some of the best Solana meme coins, like TRUMP, at press time.
Trading above $2, XRP bulls need to break above $2.5 to retest 2025 highs.
A convincing close above $2.5 could push the XRP/USDT price to $3 and later $3.4 in a buy-trend continuation pattern.

Conversely, losses below $2 may see XRP fall to April 2025 lows of around $1.6, adding pressure on fragile bulls.
On X, optimism is high. One analyst believes a firm close above 2025 highs could trigger another leg up to $10.
They maintain that the coin is in a strong uptrend. Since November 2024, XRP has surged nearly 600%.
