How was the interior of the Viper?
Like many cars that lived long lives, the Dodge Viper evolved a lot over time.
Specifically, the Viper went through three different generations of evolution.
The first generation interior was, well… cheap, to be completely honest.
Despite always coming with a massive engine and brilliant performance, the interior was poor.
In fact, the speedometer and displays were all surrounded by cheap plastic.
Thankfully, by the time of the third generation, much more attention had been paid to the inside.
Specifically, the Viper came with a chunky leather steering wheel and a touchscreen display.
However, it was still considered to be far behind many of its domestic, muscle rivals.
Was the exterior much better than inside?
Thankfully, there is a much more positive answer to this question.
Ever since its inception, the Dodge Viper has been a truly unique-looking car.
Interestingly, the Viper managed to resemble the animal it was named after.
The entire car was a sleek, yet extremely striking and aggressive approach.
In particular, the car came with a very long hood, as well as sculpted curves.
The bulging fenders took direct inspiration from American racing cars of the 1960s and 1970s.
Despite slight changes and alterations, the design mostly remained the same.
Even today, the Dodge Viper stands among its rivals as a truly uniquely designed car.
What was the performance of the Dodge Viper like?
Now, this is where Viper owners got their real value for money.
The first generation Dodge Viper came with a mammoth 8.0 liter, V10 engine.
It produced 400bhp, and was good for a top speed of 165mph.
2003 saw an upgrade to an 8.3 liter, V10 engine – with a maximum power output of 500bhp.
It was also good for a reported 0-60 time of around 4.2 seconds.
The final generation saw the biggest engine yet – a whopping 8.4 liter, V10 beast.
Chrysler produced an engine that totalled 640bhp – an increase of nearly 150bhp.
And the performance results were extremely noticeable at that.
The top speed came to around 190mph, with a 0-60 time of just 3.5 seconds.
Yes, it’s certainly fair to say that Dodge Viper owners got a lot of bang for their buck.
