Friends attempt 1,000-miles through Arctic Circle using vehicles bought for under $1,000 off Facebook

A group of friends has attempted to drive 1,000 miles across the Arctic Circle in cheap trucks from Facebook Marketplace, including Dodge and Nissan vehicles that cost less than $1,000.

The guys from Donut Media bought some relatively beat-up old motors from Facebook Marketplace, spending as little as possible, to see if they could get them across the Arctic.

The cars included a 1998 Dodge and a 1990 Nissan, and their condition was far from ideal.

Sadly, the trip had its pitfalls, but they did make it to the end, albeit not in the manner in which they had hoped.

The chosen trucks were incredibly beat up

The two vehicles the presenters picked were not in the best condition.

The first one was a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan, with a 158hp engine and all-wheel drive.

Thanks to its size, the Caravan is more of a minivan than a truck, and one of the YouTubers paid just $850 for it.

Meanwhile, the other YouTuber chose a 1990 Nissan D21 hard-body pickup truck.

The Nissan pickup truck had 134hp engine under the hood, and it too had four-wheel drive.

In terms of cost, it was also $850, with the added bonus of a snowplow at the front.

Regarding the overall condition, the Nissan looked to be in worse shape.

This was thanks to rotting wheel arches and badly worn paintwork.

The Arctic journey was filled with trepidation

The trucks needed some work before they could head out on their adventure.

This included bodywork repairs and new tires to handle the snowy terrain.

The journey was a 1,000-mile drive from Anchorage to Deadhorse.

Several issues arose during the drive.

This included the wipers not working and the Nissan needing a shove at one point.

However, the biggest problem came when one of the presenters driving the Dodge fell into the ice.

The car cracked the surface of a frozen river as it drove over.

Thankfully, he was able to get himself out of the vehicle before it sank, but it was a terrifying moment.

While they did pull the Dodge out, it was clear it wasn’t going to make it to the end of the trip.

However, the two did make the full 1,000-mile journey in the Nissan.

They proved that beat-up wrecks of cars can still have plenty of life left in them. The post Friends attempt 1,000-miles through Arctic Circle using vehicles bought for under $1,000 off Facebook appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
