The coolest – and weirdest cars – to ever appear on The Simpsons

The Simpsons has been on the air since 1989, and we’ve seen a lot of weird and wonderful cars on the animated show over the years.

Sure, these cars may be 2D, but that doesn’t make them any less iconic.

With it recently being announced that The Simpsons has been renewed up until 2029 – the show’s 40th year – we thought there was no better time to take a look at the show’s car line-up.

So we’re going to do a round-up of the four coolest – or perhaps weirdest – cars to have traveled the roads of Springfield.

They’ll never stop The Simpsons… and certainly not in these cars

The misadventures of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie have entertained millions for decades.

For an average lower-middle class family, they sure have encountered some quirky cars along the way.

And just to keep things interesting, we’re not going to include Homer’s pink sedan or Marge’s orange station wagon.

Let’s face it, they appear in the opening sequence of every episode – we’ve seen enough of them.

Without any further ado (Or further ‘a d’oh’), let’s take a look at some cars that have appeared on The Simpsons.

Mr. Plow (‘Plow King’, Season 4, Episode 9)

Homer was known to going through various jobs and his brief stint at Mr. Plow was pretty memorable.

Driving a humongous plow truck around made Homer some money in his job-of-the-episode.

He even had a theme song to go along with it.

However, in typical Homer fashion, it was repossessed once he was unable to keep up with payments.

At least he got to keep the Mr. Plow jacket.

The Plow King (‘Plow King’, Season 4, Episode 9)

Homer’s bar buddy Barney decided to one-up him by securing The Plow King.

It was bigger than Mr. Plow – and had a better theme song, sang by Linda Ronstadt.

The two had a snow plow rivalry, but eventually put their differences aside.

Later episodes would see Barney focus his energies on learning to fly a helicopter

The Homer (‘Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?’, Season 2, Episode 15)

When Homer reconnected with his half-brother Herb, he was stunned to discover he was the head of a Detroit car manufacturer.

Powell Motors was going through a bit of a creative slump, and Herb tasked Homer with coming up with a new car that would sell to the ‘average American’.

Although the creative team were initially reluctant to take Homer’s wacky ideas on board, he persisted and got them through.

When it came time to unveil ‘The Homer’, it left everyone appalled and bankrupted Herb.

We’re thinking Homer may have been ahead of his time with this one.

The car has two bubble domes – one for the drivers and one for the kids in the back.

The engine is loud enough to make people think ‘the world’s coming to an end’ – so not too dissimilar from this car from Carmagheddon.

There’s also giant cupholders, three horns, and shag carpeting.

It’s a mixed bag, but we have to respect the creativity.

As far as weird car ideas go, the Homer isn’t too strange.

At least it didn’t have a tail like the Toyota Pod.

Canyonero (‘The Last Temptation Of Krust’, Season 9, Episode 16 / ‘Marge Simpson in: ‘Screaming Yellow Honkers’, Season 10, Episode 15)

If there’s one way to describe this SUV, it would be ‘large and in charge… and driven by Marge’.

Krusty the Clown owned one of these after appearing in some commercials for it.

Once Homer caught glimpse of it, he wanted one – but it soon fell into dis-use.

Marge started driving it, and loved it, as there was enough space for her to fit 32 bags of groceries in the boot.

However, being in such a big car went to her head and she soon started developing a case of road rage.

Fortunately, she put her Canyonero to good use in the episode’s climax, when she used it to herd up some rhinos that had escaped from Springfield Zoo.

We reckon the Canyonero wouldn’t look too out of place at Apocalypse Manufacturing.

So there you have it – four weird and wacky cars from The Simpsons.

And that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Some honorable mentions of cars from The Simpsons that didn’t quite make the cut

Wherever you look around the town of Springfield, there are cars aplenty.

There’s Otto driving the school bus, and Mr. Burns swanning around in his limo.

If any resident was going to be splashing some cash on supercars, it’d be Mr. Burns.

One episode saw him send the Simpsons to Italy to pick up a Lamborgotti Fasterossa (An obvious parody of Lamborghini).

However, a huge wheel of mortadella cheese crushed the car.

With the show set to continue up until 2029, we can only imagine what cars will grace our screens between now and then. The post The coolest – and weirdest cars – to ever appear on The Simpsons appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
