Max Verstappen says Christian Horner’s sacking doesn’t affect his future
Earlier this month, Red Bull CEO Christian Horner was sacked from the Formula 1 team after 20 years, a move which has sent shockwaves across the paddock.
It comes after years of struggles on the racing track, where only the scintillating magic of Max Verstappen has seen Red Bull have any success – seven other drivers have accompanied him in the second car, and all seven have failed to win races.
Since then, rumors have increased about where Max Verstappen will be racing next year, especially as fans have been tracking his private jet and that of Mercedes Principal Toto Wolff.
Ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen has now opened up about his future, claiming that the sacking of Christian Horner as Red Bull CEO will have no impact on his ‘decision’.
“No, it doesn’t, really,” he said during the media conference.
“I don’t think it will matter at all for my decision in the future. At the end, the only thing that matters is that we work on the car and make it as fast as we can make it.
“Life is unpredictable. In general, I’m very happy where I’m at. And I would hope that still… the target that we set out when we signed the new deal, that I would drive here until the end of my career.
“Sitting here, you look back at those 20 years of Red Bull, I think we’ve had a lot of great, great years, great, great results.
“That’s now something that we work with in a different direction. I’m excited about it.”
New dawns beckon without the Red Bull CEO
The upcoming Belgian Grand Prix will see a huge change in the camp, as former Racing Bulls (Toro Rosso and AlphaTauri, prior) Team Principal Laurent Mekies will be in charge.
Max Verstappen will also have a new engineer in his ear for the Belgian Grand Prix, as long-time friend and colleague Gianpiero Lambiase will be missing this race for personal reasons.
Red Bull will be hoping that Verstappen can score well in the next few races, with his exit clause becoming increasingly possible amid the Mercedes move rumors.
But the Formula 1 champion will likely be fully focused on getting back to the top of the podium and upsetting the McLaren duo.The post Max Verstappen speaks out about his F1 future following the sacking of Red Bull CEO Christian Horner appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
