Man spotted driving phantom Ferrari F1 car on highway
Today’s story is the incredibly strange culmination of a six-year struggle in the Czech Republic.
It concerns the local Police – and a man driving a phantom Ferrari F1 car.
According to reports, this Ferrari F1 car has been seen on Czech motorways since 2019.
And it is the backstory to this whole saga that is even more interesting.
Czech Police actually first spoke to the driver of this phantom car back in 2019.
The car was first spotted traveling the country’s highways over six years ago.
Authorities tracked the owner down and managed to question him.
But because the owner has worn a helmet every time he has driven, the police couldn’t actually confirm if it was him.
As a result, the case could never be taken beyond questioning.
Czech Police finally find phantom driver near Prague
Now, six years later, police are back at it – but this time, the end result is very different.
Video footage emerged on Sunday morning of the distinctive car hitting the roads once again.
It was seen driving on the D4 highway before pitting – pun intended – for petrol.
Authorities followed the car to a property in Buk, around 37 miles south-west of Prague.
After arriving at the property, officers questioned the man over driving the car on the highway.
He then began arguing with them, claiming that authorities were trespassing on his property.
Eventually he relented and agreed to be taken to a police station for questioning, whilst still wearing his red racing driver’s outfit and helmet.
The vehicle in question has frequently been described as being ‘a Ferrari Formula 1 car.’
But it turns out that the car in question isn’t exactly a Maranello track star.
It is, in fact, a Dallara GP2/08 – a car developed by Dallara for the GP2 series.
It has since been rebranded as the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
