This 1969 Chevy Corvette ZL-1 is worth an astonishing seven-figure sum due to its rarity.
Only two of these stunning cars were ever made, which explains why they command such a high price.
YouTuber Americars took a closer look at the Corvette for a video on his channel.
This ‘engineering experiment’ was something remarkable.

The 1969 Chevy Corvette ZL-1 is exceptionally rare
When it comes to Corvettes, we’re used to seeing some top-notch cars.
There’s the Corvette ZR1, which can hit 233MPH but only if you keep the engine revving in the wrong gear.
There’s this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette, which had done so many miles that the odometer had spun over three times.
And who could forget the Chevy ZR1X, which is set to take on Germany’s Nürburgring for the first time?
But in terms of rarity, these cars don’t have anything on the 1969 Corvette ZL-1.
Only two of these cars were ever made, and their value is no joke.
YouTuber Americars put it best in his video delving into the car’s history.
“It’s the kind of car that makes collectors lose sleep and for good reason,” he said.
This car was intended to be an evolution from the L88, taking things to the next level.
Its all aluminum, 427-cubic-inch V8 was a big departure from the traditional cast iron big block of the era.
The aluminum construction made the case 100Ib lighter, giving it an improved power-to-weight ratio.
Officially, its brake horsepower was equal to the L88 at 430.
But in reality, it produced somewhere between 500 and 585, a staggering number for the time.
It was capable of going from 0 to 60MPH in just four seconds, and was capable of running a quarter mile in 12.1 seconds at 116MPH.
But enough of those stats – what about the price?
How much is this car worth?
Back in 1969, the ZL1 would have cost buyers $4,718.
With certain performance upgrades, that price would soon soar to $10,048.
This was too pricey for the general public, hence why only two ended up being sold.
Nowadays, you could expect the car to go for a whole lot more.
In 2021, a ZL1 sold for $3,140,000.
Coming up with that amount of money would be no mean feat.
