This man from the US has always wanted an F1 car, and he couldn’t afford one, but he’s not letting that stop him – he’s building it himself from junk he’s found on Facebook Marketplace.

Harking back to kit cars of old, this YouTuber decided that he’ll have to take matters into his own hands if he wants an F1 car all of his own.

He spent a lot of his building process desperately trying to find places for random parts that he’d found online, and even used some motorcycle parts in the franken-car.

Not only did he use parts for their intended purpose, he also used other bits to DIY the pieces he couldn’t find in order to help complete his F1 car.

This guy from the US loved the idea of having his own F1 car so much that he actually decided that he was going to DIY one from pieces he could find on Facebook Marketplace. We mean, who can blame him?

He started his project by finding a rare retro-style fibreglass vehicle with a unique and charming design, quirky access hatch, but some rust and damage.

Along with his team, he began disassembling the vehicle, removing the brittle wiring and weighing the chassis.

A lot of parts of the original car were zip-tied, especially the seatbelts, which made it a real safety concern and also made the YouTuber, Rich Rebuilds, wonder what happened with the car before.

Rich actually used a Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle engine for the car, because he wanted a high-revving F1-like performance and sound.

He also found some old sprockets, which surprisingly fit in the car. But he had concerns about the dry gearbox and the rust-filled tank.

Instead of using some parts for their intended purpose, though, he also used odd bits to DIY other parts, like making a clutch pedal out of a handbrake.

Rich and his team still have a long way to go, but we appreciate the commitment to making an F1 car, if only he had somewhere to display it, like this mansion’s living room.
