BMW M4 wins 2025’s Nürburgring 24 Hours, first time car maker has won in five years

A BMW M4 won the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours – the first time the marque has won the race in the last five years.

The Nürburgring 24 Hours was as nail-biting as ever, with a record–breaking 280,000 spectators turning out.

One hundred and forty cars took part in the race, which was hit with crashes, an electrical outage, and a penalty.

After a thrilling 24 hours, it was Rowe Racing’s BMW M4 GT3 EVO that was declared the winner.

The 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours was a close run race

As we’ve come to expect from the Nürburgring 24 Hours, there was a whole load of action on the day, and it included a few surprises, like this customized Renault Twingo.

Another surprise was the result.

As things didn’t start off well for Rowe Racing’s winning team of drivers: Kelvin van der Linde, Augusto Farfus, Jesse Krohn, and Raffaele Marciello.

The #98 BMW M4 GT3 EVO missed out on the top qualifying session and started the race in 17th position.

But they didn’t let that put them off, and by the end of the first lap, they had worked their way into the top 10.

Around the 90-minute mark, the race was halted due to a power outage, adding to the tension on the day.

The race didn’t start again for another two hours and fifteen minutes, after which van der Linde took the BMW M4 from ninth place to third in just two laps.

As day turned to night, the team held the second spot, just behind the Manthey EMA #911 Porsche, and with less than four hours to go, found themselves in first place for the first time, before losing the top spot again.

Ensuring fans stayed on the edge of their seats until the very end, Porsche actually got over the line before the BMW but was issued a penalty, resulting in Rowe Racing’s victory.

Exciting stuff, right?

The event marks the first win for BWM in five years, the last time was back in 2020 when Rowe drove a BMW M6 GT3 to victory.

Why were Manthey Porsche penalised?

It looked as though the race was in the bag for Manthey Racing’s 911 Porsche GT3 R as it passed the finish line first.

However, after crossing the finish line, the team was whacked with a 100-second penalty.

The penalty was issued to driver Kevin Estre, who took part alongside Ayhancan Guven and Thomas Preining, for causing a crash with the #179 Dorr Aston Martin

Ouch.

Although the team immediately protested the penalty, the decision was upheld, pushing the Porsche behind the BMW M4.The post BMW M4 wins 2025’s Nürburgring 24 Hours, first time car maker has won in five years appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
