A New Yorker just listed a rare piece of Americana on eBay: a ’58 Chevy Impala convertible once owned by Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy’s.

It’s a striking classic with serious curb appeal and a fascinating backstory.

The seller is asking $119,000, and they’re not entertaining offers.

If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a vintage Chevy with fast food royalty history, this might be your moment.

The ’58 Chevy Impala used to belong to the founder of Wendy’s

The ’58 Chevy Impala was an instant hit when it first hit the streets.

It was everything a late 50s’ American car should be, stylish, bold, and full of character.

That year, Chevrolet sold more than 181,000 Impalas, helping the company take the sales crown from Ford.

Of course, things have come full circle in 2025, since Chevrolet has once again overtaken Ford, at least in the EV market.

The 1958 Impala was offered as a coupe or convertible, with this one being the much rarer soft-top version.

This specific car reportedly belonged to the founder of Wendy’s, Dave Thomas, at one point.

While it’s unclear how long the legendary founder of Wendy’s owned it, the vehicle has been fully restored and still carries its original body panels and drivetrain.

The restoration took place over 10 years ago, and while the car still looks fantastic, the seller notes a few areas that could use a touch-up.

You have to give the seller bonus points for being upfront, since not everyone is honest when it comes to selling cars.

An in-person inspection is recommended

This ’58 Chevy Impala comes with some great features.

It has factory air conditioning, disc brakes, and has been stored indoors, which helped protect it from rust and weather damage.

Even though it doesn’t have the highest-performance engine that was available at the time, it still runs and drives.

And let’s face it, this car is more about cruising in style than racing at stoplights.

In fact, the car has achieved quite a cult following, evident from the fact that a Dubai man flew all the way to Los Angeles to get his hands on his very own Chevy Impala.

The seller is located in Binghamton, New York, and recommends an in-person inspection.

That’s good advice for any classic car purchase, especially one at this price point.

And while $119,000 is no small sum, similar cars, especially with celebrity ties, may be worth much more. The post New Yorker got their hands on the ’58 Chevy owned by the founder of Wendy’s, then stuck it on eBay appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
