Big power is under the hood of the McLaren 720S
Naturally, one of the biggest talking points for the supercar is its incredible amount of power.
It isn’t the fastest McLaren ever produced, but it’s certainly one of them!
The company gave the supercar a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 710HP and 568LB-FT of torque.
That’s enough for a 0-60MPH time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 212MPH.
Its makers say that the car can breach the quarter mile in just 10 seconds, and go from 0-124MPH in just 387ft.
The engine inside the car is the M840T, an evolution of the M838T introduced in 2011.
The 720S was the first car to use the engine after its introduction in 2017.
Thanks to that V8 engine, the car’s driving experience is incredible.
Not only due to the amount of power but also the poise it has in the corners.
The exterior of the 720S
The 720S used a similar design language to the supercars before it, which started with the MP4-12C.
It has a sleek, curved front end and prominent ridge lines down the sides, and the sleek curves continue around the back of the car.
Its design is also much more subtle than the ferocious P1 and aggressive Senna.
The British manufacturer took inspiration from the rest of the McLaren supercar lineup for the design.
In fact, the fabled F1 was one of the main sources of inspiration for the 720S.
This included the twin-hinged butterfly doors and the air channels for the engine on those doors.
Thin LED tail lights were used at the rear, similar to those on the P1 hypercar.
It was partially inspired by the great white shark, according to the marque.
That also influenced its teardrop-shaped cockpit.
The supercar’s interior is very classy
Inside, it’s as refined and classy as you would expect from a McLaren.
The British company is no stranger to perfection.
Carbon fiber elements and a foldable driver’s display are part of that.
For a supercar, it is remarkably comfortable, and road noise is very much at a minimum.
There are some unique McLaren 720S rebuild issues
In terms of issues, there is very little to complain about with the 720S.
A YouTuber had some McLaren 720S rebuild issues after rebuilding one due to a previous wreck.
Aside from that, though, the 720S will go down as one of the company’s greatest supercars.
The car would later evolve into the 750S, with production of its successor commencing in 2023.The post Everything you need to know about the McLaren 720S appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
